Reason for Being ...
What can we learn from ikigai? Yet, I found ikigai to be the blueprint, the underlying ideational-scaffolding, for the thoughts processes that I’d already trampled through. Here’s my CliffsNotes on ikigai:
4 Outer circles – that which you love; that which the world needs;
that which you can be paid for; that which you are good at
Where 2 circles overlap – mission; vocation; profession; passion
Where all 4 circles overlap – IKIGAI
As Howard Thurman said “Don’t ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And, then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” Then, trust that if you do what you love, the money will follow … I’ve never seen the reverse to be true.
