Really, really knowing that those around us are doing okay
This time of year (and throughout the year) it makes sense to connect with people, to get a deeper sense of how they’re doing – not only the seasonal changes, but the November and December holidays are often difficult for those who have experienced deaths, disconnections and conflict within their families.
It's more than a "Hi, how are you?" moment
“How are you today?” – This punctuates the here and now moment, and welcomes current feelings.
And, if you happen to get a standard “Fine, thanks for asking” response, then counter with “What does ‘fine’ feel like for you?”
